Standard plots journalists poaching spree
By Cliff Mbole
Standard Media Group is plotting a major raid across local media houses targeting political journalists ahead of the 2022 campaigns.
The move comes barely a few months after the outlet associated with the family of Baringo Senator Gideon Moi fired 170 employees on redundancy grounds.
Through a past memo Chief Executive Officer Orlando Lyomu tabled reasons for firing the personnel were brought about by the difficult business environment and outsourcing of non-core services.
Those affected were KTN Managing Editor Ellen Wanjiru, The Standard sub-editor Anthony Malesi, reporter Moses Njagi, KTN News Editor Patrick Injendi, John Atambo (former Kakamega Bureau chief) and Protus Onyango.
In the looming assault which is a safely guarded matter, some of the potential targets are the Agah Khan owned Nation Media group, President Kenyatta’s family Mediamax and Patrick Quarcoo’s Radio Africa group.
Also not likely to be spared are the state-owned KBC and Royal Media Services, owned by tycoon SK Macharia
