Ruto’s UDA Party membership hits 7 Million

President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) membership has hit 7 million ahead of the party’s December 9 grassroots elections.
This is according to data from the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) Anne Nderitu.
The party has netted 7,020,275 members as at the close of October 2023.
Kiambu County has the lion’s share of UDA party membership standing at 667,158 members followed by Nakuru with 579,773 as Nairobi comes third with 515,725 members.
Samburu County has the least number of UDA members at 3,398.

The ruling party has also made tremendous improvement in Azimio la Umoja One Kenya leader Raila Odinga’s Nyanza backyard, with Homa Bay County topping the list in terms of its membership in the region.
Homa Bay County has 137,210 UDA members followed by Kisumu with 70,525, Migori has 58,287 and Siaya 51,163 members.
The president’s party has been making inroads in the Nyanza region which has stood with Mr Odinga in the last five elections.
The Head of State is banking on the services of Interior Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo and ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo among other ODM rebels from the region to market his outfit.

Dr Omollo hails from Homa Bay County which has topped the list of Nyanza UDA membership while Mr Owalo hails from Siaya – Mr Odinga’s home county, which has the list number of UDA members in the region.
President Ruto, who graced the party’s inaugural National Governing Council (NGC) meeting at the Bomas of Kenya on September 30th directed current party officials led by Secretary General Cleophas Malala to ensure the elections due on December 9th are above board.

President Ruto also requested the NGC to allow the party to reach out to other political parties interested in folding their outfits to join UDA.
