Joy as KURA upgrades roads in Migori, Garissa

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has kicked off the upgrading of roads in two key towns in Migori County and Garissa counties .
President William Ruto has defended the government’s decision to invest more funds in the upgrading of roads, saying it will boost the country’s economy and trade.

The agency’s technical team recently made a development tour to Isibania in Kuria West accompanied by the area MP Robi Mathias.
The team addressed Stakeholders Engagement forum for the upgrading of Isibania Town Roads totaling to 1.5 KM.
” The public were informed about the project scope and their views were put into consideration, ” noted KURA Director General Eng. Silas Kinoti.Eng. Kinoti
Eng. Kinoti observed that public engagement is key towards providing road infrastructure that is people-centered.
In Garissa county , the Authority yesterday officially launched a total of 15 km road network within Garissa township.
Area MP Mohamed Dekow Barrow joined the KURA officials during the launch of the project earmarked to be constructed within the current financial year.
According to Eng. Kinoti, the projects will improve connectivity, support economic development, and enhance the lives of local communities.
Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen observes that good roads are crucial for success of agriculture sector and general development of the country.
Roads CS Murkomen Murkomen pledged to complete all ongoing road projects as one way of supporting farmers to access markets for their produce.
KURA is a state agency that manages, develops, rehabilitates, and maintains national trunk roads in Kenya’s urban areas.
