Former Police spokesman Ombati named New Rift Valley Regional boss

FORMER police spokesman Jasper Ombati has been named the new Rift Valley Regional Police Commander.

According to new changes announced by Inspector General of police Japhet Koome on Friday June 7, Ombati replaced Tom Odero who was recalled to police headquarters.

Ombati had been serving at the Italian embassy as an attaché before he came back from the mission on February this year and was posted to Kenya Railways as the commandant of the formation.

Allan Sangoro who has been at the peace keeping mission in South Sudan was posted at the Kenya Railways to succeed Ombati.

Odero has been at the Rift Valley station as the RPC for almost five years during which he led among others the war against banditry.

He has managed to lead the multi agency team in the area to contain the menace in most of the affected areas.

Some areas however remain unstable after repeated attacks from the bandits amid ongoing operations.

Ombati was deployed to the region amid ongoing operations on the bandits and other forms of crime in general.
