KURA targets over 3500 trees to mark Holiday

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) targets over 3500 trees to mark 13th November public holiday for a nationwide tree planting day.
Tomorrow (Monday) will be a “special holiday” in which people nationwide will be expected to plant trees as part of the government`s ambitious plant to plant 15bn trees by 2032.
“The government has declared a special holiday on Monday 13 November 2023, during which the public across the country shall be expected to plant trees as a patriotic contribution to the national efforts to save our country from the devastating effects of climate change,” interior minister Kithure Kindiki announced on his X account.

According to KURA`s program, participants will converge outside chief Mugumuone`s office and later plant trees along Langata cemetery to Namba nane junction.
The roads agency has continuously participated in tree-planting campaign that targets the greening of urban roads across Kenya.

Eng. Kinoti observes that as the global demand for climate-resilient infrastructure rises, there is a need to respond to environmental concerns in urban areas and rising pollution.
He disclosed that the Authority is implementing a collaborative program with strategic partners to plant and maintain a total of 15,000 trees in the Nairobi Metropolis.
